Islas Secas warmly welcomes children of all ages. However, it’s important to note that certain areas within the resort and casitas require close adult supervision for young children. All accommodation options, except for the Tented Casitas, feature plunge pools. It’s worth mentioning that both regular Casitas and the Tented Casitas have simple railings with sizable gaps that children could potentially squeeze through and pose a falling risk. Additionally, there are considerable drops on the other side of these railings. Some of the paths within the resort are fairly rough and not appropriate for strollers.

We offer multiple guided nature hikes – talk to us about the level of difficulty and time commitments. Always ask about kayaking out to the beaches and hiking back!
Playas Loop, at 3.1 km, is Isla Cavada’s longest and most challenging, with a few uphill sections that take guests to two very different beaches: Playa Pelicano and Playa Limón. Swing by the remains of an extremely large cedro tree. Feel free to add on the new Quebrada Trail that borders a seasonal creek, view several large strangler fig trees, and take in some ocean views that allow you to see all the way to Coiba National Park.
Vista Pargo, at 2.4 km (out and back), is a relatively short trail that provides one of Isla Cavada’s most breathtaking views of Isla Pargo and the Pacific Ocean. Sunsets are a must.
Vista Ridge Trail at 2.1 km is great for a speed hike or a trail run along Vista Ridge, with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. If you want to stretch your run out add on either the Playas Loop or the North Cavada Trail and end your run or hike with a dip in the Pool.
North Cavada Trail, at 3.4 km (out and back), lets guests stroll through the tropical forest while hearing the waves crashing on the cliffs below. Walk within a mangrove, explore the multiple low tide beaches at Playa Canales – and, if timed correctly, witness an impressive water spout out of rocks at Bufadora! This trail provides all these experiences, and guests can finish up at the Terminal building, for a ride back to the pool! An impressive water spout out of the rocks!
