A luxury experience with an environment-first ethos

We are deeply committed to having a low impact on our environment, and youā€™ll see that throughout Islas Secas. From our operations and architecture to providing sustainable hospitality, no decisions are made without taking into account their environmental consequences. Given that we are surrounded by one of the greatest marine zones on earth, this conscious, low-impact model is vital to protect and preserve the extraordinary biodiversity of the Gulf of ChiriquĆ.

100% Solar Powered

Our entire eco resort is powered by renewable solar energy from 1,500 photovoltaic panels through a 300-meter-long solar array. This allows the property to be off-grid and self-reliant on a sustainable energy source that will not deplete and is a significant accomplishment for our planet-friendly operations.

Eco-Friendly Construction

From the very first sketches, we paid careful attention to using materials and building techniques that are minimally invasive to the environment, including using certified sustainable wood. Our innovative architecture and design ensures that cooling breezes, natural shade and spectacular views are maximized.

100% Water Recycling

Water is a precious and scarce natural resource on islands, and Islas Secas takes its conservation seriously. All water is reclaimed, treated without chlorination and then used for irrigation, minimizing any negative impact on the groundwater supply.

No Single-Use Plastics

Given our eco resortā€™s ocean setting, we know first-hand the harmful effects of single-use plastics on marine ecosystems. Weā€™re working to eliminate all single-use plastics from the property, and all single-use plastic bottles have been replaced with reusable water bottles, provided to each guest upon arrival.

Zero Food Waste

Islas Secas dehydrates all food leftovers, which are then composted and turned into fertilizer, resulting in a circular, zero-waste system. Plans are also underway to create an organic on-island farm, using recycled wastewater for irrigation and featuring a robust composting program.

Genuine Recycling

Our environmental committee has collaborated with an external waste management expert to implement crucial measures to separate, pack and recycle all solid waste from Islas Secasā€™ operations. That means we save as much as possible from landfill.
