Islas Secas voted #1 Island in Central & South America in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards

We are over the moon to announce that Islas Secas has been voted the #1 Island in Central and South America in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards 2026.
M ore than 750,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe, giving a full snapshot of the places they enjoyed this year and can’t wait to return to next. The Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry, and the full list of winners can be found here.
Being named the #1 Island in Central and South America means a great deal to us, because it is a vote for the place itself, and for the extraordinary team who bring it to life every day. Our 14 volcanic islands rise from the Gulf of Chiriquí in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, part of the same ocean corridor that links Coiba National Park, an hour away by boat, with Cocos, Malpelo and the Galápagos. Humpback whales from both hemispheres pass through these waters, the reefs around us hold one of the largest coral systems in the region, and 143 species of bird live among the forest and mangroves.
Islas Secas was never conceived as a resort with a view. It is a legally protected archipelagic reserve that happens to host a maximum of 32 guests, runs on solar power, and whose sister conservation foundation, The Islas Secas Foundation, supports marine and coastal initiatives to protect the area’s incredible biodiversity. We think that distinction matters. To be recognized for the islands, rather than for the rooms, is exactly the kind of recognition we hoped for when we opened in 2019.
Readers of the UK edition of Condé Nast Traveller also placed Islas Secas at No. 12 among Resorts in Central and South America this year, and we are grateful for that too.
