O ur incredible location in Panama means Islas Secas offers some of the best sport fishing in the world. From yellowfin tuna and Mahi Mahi to marlin and sailfish, here we highlight why Islas Secas is a truly extraordinary luxury fishing resort…

1. Location, Location, Location

We are blessed with our position, both within the Gulf of Chiriquí and near Coiba National Park, and as the closest resort to the famous Hannibal Bank and Montuosa Island – which are world-famous for their tuna and marlin fishing. So it’s an easy hop from our relaxing luxury fishing lodge to an exhilarating day’s fishing at one of the world’s top spots.

2. Lots of Fish (For Unusual Reasons)

Interesting fact: Coiba Island, in the celebrated Coiba National Park near Islas Secas, was a penal colony for the best part of a century. The result was that it was never developed, and the surrounding waters were protected and preserved, allowing the flourishing of marine life.

3. Year-Round Fishing

No matter the season, we offer luxury fishing trips year-round. July through November are great for catching delicious wahoo, while marlin and yellow-fin tuna are best tackled from November to Spring time. Whatever time of year you visit Islas Secas, you’re bound to catch something exciting.

4. It’s Oh-So Quiet

Head out on one of our fishing trips and you’ll immediately notice how few fishing parties are out there. Chances are you’ll have the waters to yourself, which both increases your chances of a catch and makes the whole experience even more wild and wonderful.

5. So Many Choices…

At Islas Secas, our extraordinary waters are home to a huge diversity of fish. From mahi-mahi, amberjacks, a variety of snappers and dorado (also known as dolphin fish), to groupers, black and blue marlins – and even dramatic sailfish – you’ll be quite literally spoiled for choice.

6. And so Much to do…

Are you traveling with a group that includes those less keen on fishing? Our beautiful private island resort has a wealth of activities on offer, from scuba diving, hiking, and cooking lessons, to relaxing days by the pool or in the Spa. You can even take the whole of Islas Secas on a private island buy-out

7. It’s All About the People

Our team is on hand to make your Panama sport fishing trip one to remember. We have two vessels on hand to take you out, as well as seven captains who between them have decades of experience and know these waters like the backs of their hands. You’re in for a treat…
