Our Sustainable Fashion Partner

Breebaart’s story began in 1969 when French artist Hélène Breebaart was sent to Panama by Christian Dior to oversee a cosmetics launch in Latin America. But it was Panama’s natural beauty and the intricate artistry of the Guna Indians of San Blas that captivated her, inspiring her to stay. Merging her artistic vision with traditional Guna craftsmanship, she pioneered a new form of wearable art. By the late 1970s, Hélène had established herself as Panama’s first fashion designer to bring local craftsmanship to the global stage.

Fashion with Purpose

Breebaart is deeply committed to social responsibility. Women artisans – many of whom are the primary providers for their families – are at the heart of the brand. By ensuring fair wages, providing training and fostering a space where cultural heritage is celebrated, Breebaart empowers communities while preserving tradition.

This ethos is woven into the brand’s partnership with Islas Secas. Inspired by the island’s natural beauty and climate, Breebaart has designed elegant, eco-conscious uniforms featuring intricate mola designs, a tribute to Guna storytelling traditions and craftsmanship.

Empowering Artisans, Honoring Tradition

Recognizing the challenge of engaging younger generations in traditional crafts, the brand places a strong emphasis on education and empowerment. By refining skills and fostering pride in cultural heritage, Breebaart ensures that these invaluable traditions continue to thrive. The brand’s philosophy is simple yet powerful: “Dress to express, not to disguise.”
